A little regular care goes a long way toward keeping any diffuser running smoothly and scenting a room evenly. Here's how to maintain each type of diffuser we carry, plus fixes for the most common issues.
Lumix Plug-in Diffuser
Because it plugs directly into an outlet, dust and residue can build up around the vents over time. Wipe the housing with a dry cloth every few weeks and avoid letting liquid pool near the base. If scent output seems weak, try a fresh oil cartridge and confirm the intensity dial is set higher than your usual level.
Tower Diffuser
The Tower's fan and cold-air diffusion system works best when the air intake stays free of dust. Wipe down the vents monthly and keep it away from carpeted corners where dust collects. If airflow feels weaker than usual, check that nothing is blocking the intake and that the unit is on a flat, stable surface.
AirLUX Plug-in Diffuser
Since these are often used in multi-unit sets, rotate and check each one individually rather than assuming they're all working the same way. A unit that seems to run out of scent faster than the others may simply be in a room with more airflow, so try adjusting its position before assuming it's faulty.
Max HVAC Diffuser
Because this unit connects to your HVAC system, it benefits from a check during the same season you'd change your air filter. Confirm the connection to the ductwork is secure and that the scent cartridge isn't empty, since inconsistent HVAC scenting is most often caused by a depleted cartridge rather than a mechanical issue.
General troubleshooting checklist
If any diffuser seems to be underperforming, work through these steps before assuming it needs replacing: confirm it's fully plugged in or connected, check the oil or cartridge level, wipe away any dust or residue around the vents, and try a slightly higher intensity setting. If the issue continues after that, it's worth comparing your setup against our guide on choosing the right diffuser for your space to confirm the unit is sized correctly for the room it's in.
